Magill Free Church - Our Church
"Magill Free Church" is
a Christian church bearing witness
to the life-changing love and grace
of God in the gospel of the Lord Jesus
Christ. That wonderful gospel is still
the same power of God unto salvation
to everyone that believes [Rom 1.16].
Come, "taste and see that God is good"
[Psa 34.8]!
Bible-believing
Magilll Free Church is a Bible-believing congregation
of professing Christians. This means that unlike so many professing Christians
today
we believe
that the
only
rule
of
faith
and
life
is
the
Word of God,
which is contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.
We also believe
that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were "given by inspiration
of God", and are God's only authoritative guide for what you are to believe
about God and how you are to live before him.
Presbyterian
Magill Free Church is a Presbyterian church, viz.,
we believe that the Word of God
teaches that Christian congregations
are to be cared for and protected
and governed by Elders or "Presbyters" [hence
presbyterian] and Deacons. Thus we read in the
Word of God that when groups of
true-hearted believers were gathered
and formed churches that the Apostles
"ordained them elders in every
church"[Acts 14.23].
Obeying the Word of God and having
the Biblical church government
of Elders, we believe that there
is no office higher in the Church
of God than that of Elder. The
"Minister" or "Pastor" is a teaching
Elder [1 Tim 3.2]. When Bible translations
speak of "Bishops" or "overseers"
these titles are simply synonyms
for the God-ordained office of
Elder.
Reformed
Magill Free Church is a "Reformed" church, viz.,
we believe that only by experiencing the life-changing grace of God can you
be saved and not by anything you do. As the Apostle puts it, "For by grace
are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast"[Eph 2.8]. There is nothing more wonderful
than experiencing the life, liberty and love of the gospel of free grace.
Welcoming
Magill Free Church seeks to be a "Welcoming" church,
viz., we seek to open our hearts
in true Christian welcome.
You are welcome to visit us. Come
and hear the Wonderful Word of
God and experience true-hearted
Christianity for yourself.
As the Apostle Paul writes, "For
we preach not ourselves, but Christ
Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your
servants for Jesus’ sake" [2 Cor 4:5].
